ITINERARY

Your journey begins early morning from Dehradun as we drive towards the picturesque village of Sankri, the base camp for the Kedarkantha Trek. The scenic drive passes through Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, and the Tons River Valley, offering breathtaking mountain views and pine-scented air. Upon arrival in Sankri by evening, check in to a cozy guesthouse or homestay. After a hearty dinner, enjoy an evening walk through the village and a short briefing about the trek ahead.

After breakfast, begin your first day of trekking through dense pine and oak forests, charming Himalayan villages, and clear mountain streams. The gradual ascent leads to Juda Ka Talab, a beautiful frozen lake in winter surrounded by tall pine trees. The serenity of this campsite and the snow-covered landscape make it a perfect spot to relax. Spend the evening exploring around or enjoying campfire stories under a starlit sky.

Today’s trek is shorter but steeper as we move closer to the snowline. The trail opens up to breathtaking views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Kalanag peaks. By afternoon, reach the Kedarkantha Base Camp, set in a wide-open meadow surrounded by snow-clad mountains. After lunch, you can explore the area or prepare your gear for the summit push next morning. Enjoy a warm meal and rest early for an exciting day ahead.

Wake up before dawn and start your summit climb under a blanket of stars. The steep trail through snowfields leads you to the Kedarkantha Summit, where you’ll be greeted by a 360° panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges—including Gangotri, Yamunotri, Swargarohini, and Rupin-Supin valleys. Watch the sunrise from the summit, one of the most magical experiences of this trek. After spending some time at the top, descend to Hargaon campsite for the night.

HOW TO REACH

🛣️ By Road:

  • Sankri is around 190 km from Dehradun and takes about 8–9 hours to reach by road.

  • You can hire a shared cab, private taxi, or Tempo Traveller arranged by Peak Walkers.

  • The route passes through Mussoorie–Purola–Mori–Netwar, offering beautiful views of pine forests and the Tons River valley.

  • Buses to Sankri are available from Dehradun ISBT early in the morning (between 5:00 AM – 7:00 AM).

  • The nearest railway station is Dehradun Railway Station, which is well-connected to major cities like Delhi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.

  • Popular trains include:

    • Nanda Devi Express (from New Delhi to Dehradun)

    • Mussoorie Express (overnight train)

  • From Dehradun Railway Station, you can join the Peak Walkers transport to Sankri.

 

✈️ By Air:

  • The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun), located about 25 km from the city center.

  • Regular flights operate from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and other major cities.

  • From the airport, take a taxi to Dehradun city (approx. 45 minutes) and join the trek departure vehicle arranged by Peak Walkers.
