The route takes you through the mesmerizing landscapes of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Joshimath, where you witness the confluence of sacred rivers and the raw beauty of the Garhwal Himalayas. The road follows the Alaknanda River, providing breathtaking views of deep gorges, lush green valleys, and small mountain settlements.

Upon reaching Govindghat, a charming town nestled on the banks of the Alaknanda, you will check into a guesthouse or hotel. Spend the evening exploring the local market, visiting the Gurdwara Sri Govindghat Sahib, or simply relaxing. After an early breakfast, take a short 4 km drive to Pulna, the starting point of the trek. From here, begin the 9 km ascent to Ghangaria, following a well-marked trail along the Pushpawati River. The trek takes you through dense pine forests, rhododendron trees, waterfalls, and wooden bridges, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan terrain. Along the way, you’ll find small eateries and dhabas, where you can rest and refuel.

The gradual ascent makes the trek manageable for beginners, with mule services and porters available if needed. Today’s trek is the most challenging yet spiritually rewarding. After an early breakfast, begin the 6 km steep ascent to Hemkund Sahib, one of the highest Gurudwaras in the world (15,200 ft). The trail is steep, zigzagging through rocky paths and meadows filled with Brahma Kamal, the sacred Himalayan flower found only at high altitudes.

After 4–5 hours of trekking, you will reach Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site located beside a pristine glacial lake, surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks. The serene atmosphere and the sight of the crystal-clear waters of Hemkund Lake make the effort worthwhile. Visit the Gurudwara, take part in the langar (free community meal), and spend time soaking in the tranquility of the place.

After some rest, begin your descent back to Ghangaria, arriving by late afternoon. Spend the evening relaxing, sharing stories with fellow trekkers, and enjoying a warm meal before retiring for the night.

If time permits, you can visit Badrinath Dham (25 km away), one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites, or explore Mana Village, the last Indian village near the Tibetan border. Spend the evening resting, reminiscing about the trek, and enjoying the serene mountain vibes.
